Yard & Garden Thrifting in Yellow Hues

While I was not able to get out much these past couple weeks, my trusty van is proving difficult to diagnose, even by the most gifted of mechanics,  there is one sale I like to attend every year if at all possible. It benefits Sheltie Rescue, is held at a nearby fairgrounds, and dog people from all over donate to the cause.  I tend to donate by buying too much.
Although we got a late start this morning, and it was the final half day of the sale, if there was any chance I could get there, I was determined.
The thrifting gods smiled upon me.
I will show much more of my bounty in the next few days, but for this post we will feature things I found in the golden and yellow tones, as well as having an outdoor purpose.
I am happy to announce that this post will link up with Yard Art Thursday  at Work of the Poet (home to Ruby Tuesdays)
and Twice Owned Tuesdays at House of Grace
and Nifty Thrifty Tuesday at Coastal Charm.

To the untrained eye, it may appear as fly swatters and a giant bug.
But bee honest, who could resist this face?

More faces, these a bit harder to capture on camera in their raw state.

Maybe if I change the angle?

Can you see more detail?
They will be an experiment in some sort of stone finish painting.

I guess besides the color these finds also have faces in common.

The cat’s eyes are driveway marker reflectors. It came from a free box.
I am not sure if the placques will be for the ground or wall.

I’ll continue the story tomorrow.

Does anyone have a suggestion for faux stone paint?
Any brand or shade you are happiest with?

    • Best surprise was that they were holding a bag sale. And I had with me a guy who knows how to pack a bag to the max.

    • Not an addiction (trying to convince myself) it is a lifestyle choice!

  8. Oh, I would put that darling bee in my garden in a heart beat. What a find. Everyone will just love him. I agree, you can’t resist those eyes begging you to take him home. I love the stone lion heads too. You did well! Nice to meet you through Summer Sundays.

  9. Hi and what great finds. I had to chuckle when I saw your big bee. There was a little program that aired on TV when I was a very little girl called Romper Room and the lady had a mirror called Mr. Do Bee. Mr. Do Bee didn’t have a mirror but she would place the large frame of Mr. Do Bee at each child’s face and say something like – tell me, Mr. Do Bee, is this little Johnny or Sissy. Just brought back memories.
Hope your weekend has been great.
    be a sweetie,
    Shelia 😉

    • Your comment made me think back to Romper Room. I did not know there were many different “hostesses” depending on the tv market.
The mirror frame quote at the end of each show began with:
      “Romper, bomper, stomper, boo.
Tell me, tell me, tell me do.
      Magic mirror, tell me today.
Did all my friends have fun at play?”
followed by I see… and a list of names.
At this link you can hear the Do-Bee song.
Thank you for bringing back wonderful memories.

  10. Oh, I just had to come back! I think I got my facts a little off, didn’t I? 🙂 Oh, but I went to hear the Do-Bee song. Doesn’t your little bee remind you of Do-Bee?
Thanks for popping in to see me.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia 😉

    • From now on I will be referring to him as Do-Bee.
Had to live down that I did not remember there was a Don’t Bee as well.
      It is rough getting old.
