Tea for Two?

Since blog hopping and enjoying all your sites and finds,
I now find myself appreciating things I used to not take a second look at.

They are petite, fragile,  diminuative and appeal to adults.

Clearly marked Avon, I find it hard to consider it a collectible.
But that it is from 1984 I guess I can not dispute there is some age to it.

OK – I think it is pretty.

Somehow I know that when I am gone my son will not see the value in it.

  1. They are beautiful! I love them. If I were still in my house, I would want them!

  2. I wish I still had some of the tea sets I had when I was a child. That’s a great find!

  3. I literally nodded my head about a different appreciation for pretty things. There are things that I have walked right past for years because the newness has worn off or something. Now, I find myself stopping and thinking that it reminds me of something from “so and so’s” blog… or that it would be useful for this or that. (Eloquent, aren’t I?)

I think those little teacups are pretty too!

  4. Cute! You would be surprised at how some people go mad over vintage Avon.

  5. …very pretty and a nice find.

  6. Thanks for stopping my blog. I love the tea set, especially since it’s blue and white. I always say that when I’m gone my kids will probably have the biggest yard sale in history. They see no value in most of the things I treasure.

  7. It’s an adorable tea set – great find! Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting. It’s always wonderful to meet another treasure hunter!

  8. Can I come over tea? I’ll bring the Popcorn. It’s very cute. It’s funny to think something marked 1984 is vintage, but I have seen that too!

    Take care,

  9. Hi! Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting on my finds. I tried to reply but you have your settings as “no reply” instead of your email address.
The avon tea set is pretty, but definitely not my style. I too see a lot of things that I’ve seen in blogland with a new appreciation. Sometimes I even find myself buying it even tho it isn’t exactly my cup of tea (pun intended) Those are the things that sit around and end up back in the garage sale.
My new criteria is that it has to make me smile when I see it, whatever it is.

  10. A very good criteria.
I apologize if there are setting problems. I try to be very open and available. I do receive email almost daily from others, but will recheck my settings.
    Thanks for letting me know.

    • All I can find is a bad feed for comment love, where it says last post to return to. Anyone have suggestions how I fix that?
I have tried logging out and back in. Did not fix anything.

  12. They are precious! Sometimes Avon has a big following, especially if someone is looking to replace part of the set.

  13. I love the pattern–never knew avon made teacups!

  15. I’m fairly new to blogland too and some of what is now vintage makes me antique :). Very pretty dishes.

  16. My sister used to sell Avon, but I do not recall seeing these pretty little cups and saucers. It is not always the monetary value of things that are important.

  17. Cute Avon set. I remember my Mom buying Avon in the sixties. What do our kid’s know any way? Happy VTT. ♦olive

  18. I don’t remember Avon having a set like this, and boy I wish I had seen that back then. I love this and the colors are so pretty! My mom was an avon lady for years, but I guess this came after she stopped selling. Love it! Have a great VTT!

  21. wow! super cute set and very vintagey too!

    Comment by fitty — July 15, 2010 @ 10:03 AM

  22. I don’t care if they’re not ancient antiques, they’re super sweet! I hate to admit that something from 1984 has some age to it…that means I have some age to me too! :-0 lol I think your cups and saucers are adorable!
I can’t wait to show you guys all my pics from vacation! It will probably be a few days before I’ll blog about it though..I’ll have tons of laundry to go through before I can get all my pics in order! Yikes!
    Blessings & Hugs

  23. I used to sell Avon. These are smaller than ones you would drink out of correct? I know I had one set in blue & white I liked & may of kept… I am sure you got it for much less than the original price! Avon collectors come & go & what is hot & not… I had tons, and hubby had 2 of every stein they made from the beginning until about 10 years ago, and when we needed to sell them, I couldn’t get a buck for them… they cost over $25! & more. buy what you like & have space to keep 🙂 it is the fun of the hunt 😉

  24. Oh! I think your tea set is darling, very precious.

    Happy VTT,

  25. ooh, i love these adorable pieces! the little swirls of color? cute. i feel the same way about appreciating things i wouldn’t if it wasn’t for blogging and seeing things on other people’s blogs. blogging has also helped me decorate my own space better, too. i just wish i discovered it 3 years ago when we first got our home!

so glad you stopped by the cape on the corner, and i am thrilled you poked around to see about the table. i know, for 4 bucks, i probably should have left it alone, but i really didn’t think it would be as big a production as it was. i can’t wait to finish it, but it’s been way too hot to paint. or way to rainy. oh well.

have a great day, and please don’t be a stranger!
