Thrifted Vintage Artwork

Around my house the artwork is eclectic, whimsical, non coordinated
and to be honest frequently dusty.

I showed you the framed poster I found last week

and the framed card it matches.

You may get a feel for artwork I am attracted to,  that speaks to me.

This hangs above the toilet.

It is one of those you find often preowned and in various sizes.

I’ve had it a few years and joke mine is the original.

 Can you see the brushstrokes?
 (Well, trust me)

Not long ago I found another portrait to share the same wall

as soon as I change the hideous color of the frame.

Still, I like the shape and for under $3 ( I even hesitated at that! ) I was persuaded to bring her home.

Another one that took no hesitation on my part is this Vintage reproduction of an old cereal ad.

I will find room for it in the kitchen or breakfast nook area.

I could even say I made it myself, but prefer to think I would have done a better job of mounting and Modge Podge.

I have one more to show you but will have to save it and hope you come back.

    • That was from an art show a few years back. The way I got it as a “deal” was to buy several. (Quantity discount) Different styles.
      Made great gifts too.

  7. What a wonderful Thrifty Thursday post. I really enjoyed it….especially the Mary Engelbreit print. I am one of her true blue followers. Everything you showed us this week has a way of cutting through to the heart. I love the old, real or reproduction, and it always sends a few goose bumps up and down my arms. I, too, have some of my favorites hanging over the toilet….a photograph by my middle son, and drawings by his two sons. It is a great spot for favorite art. Thanks for all of your visits to my blog. I love having you stop by.

  8. Thanks for your sweet comment, I really am feeling better already. 🙂 I am normally the most positive person in the world, I hope I haven’t come off as being a whine-y girl this month! lol I guess everyone has a bad day or two here and there. :O)
I enjoyed looking at all your art work…. I am drawn to certain artwork too…mainly older stuff. I like roses and Maude Humphry prints of little girls. 🙂
Hope you have a wonderfully blessed week!

  10. I like your taste in artwork. Try some rub and buff on that cool frame – it comes in all colors (about $4 a tube). The shape is great. I like the cereal ad – I love old ads. Thanks for sharing!

  17. I’m a big fan of eclectic vintage art too 🙂
Most of my art is either homemade by me or friends/family/kids… priceless.
But what i REALLY wanted for my kitchen wall was a series of old packing/posters of breakfast cereals etc. I have made do with my nana’s embroidery, framed. Classic.

I got your comment on my post about bloggy tips… you mentioned setting your links (within posts) to open in a separate window… I would love to know how to get it to do that… any ideas??
