A Grab Bag

Filed under: Thrifty Finds — Laura R @ 3:16 PM

How many times do you throw a dollar at a lottery ticket?
Have you ever picked up a grab bag at the dollar store?
I knew there was at least one item in this bag worth my dollar.

I was delighted to find out some of the other treasures it offered.

 Just in time for fall…

some old containers, one of them a bank

I think these are game pieces, and some nice autumn orange dangles

a Japanese liqueur bottle, House of Koshu, Geisha

not that we’ll encourage the snowmen to smoke…

 or over indulge

a wooden figure smoking a meerschaum  to paint

Have I gotten my dollar’s worth yet?

 Avon Sweet Honesty, half full

an older Mickey Mouse hat in excellent condition

and a couple more items I will share with you in the next post.

  6. I think it may be worth a dollar just to go through the bag and see what odd treasures may have made it in.

You got a whole bunch of smiles, all for just a buck.

    Good thrifting!

  9. Our dollar stores mus not have grab bags. At least I do not recall seeing any. I have blown a $1 on a lottery scratch off, but rarely win. You won big time with all your goodies.

  11. I’m the type of shopper who probably wouldn’t buy a grab bag like that because it has a lot of things I don’t want.

  16. You did get your dollar’s worth. I bought five of the dollar bags not long ago because each one had at least one item I wanted and was worth $1 to me…I got much more. Not as good as your bag but still nice. It’s fun to be surprised!

  22. My friend and I used to love getting grab bags at the thrift shop! I remember we were so young at the time, though, that we were mystified when one bag contained maternity clothes. We couldn’t figure out what the stretchy panel on the pants was for!
