Thrifty Treasures TV

How many of you  watch tv shows about auctions or flea markets or treasure hunting?

Cash in the Attic had both British and US versions,

Flea Market Mania with Christopher Kent

had a New England flavor. (I have just learned new episodes are being aired.)

The present day Pawn Stars is definitely Las Vegas.

The much talked about American Pickers is 100% American. (A good discussion is found here.)

If you have ever seen Bargain Hunt with the delightfully  British David Dickinson you could not forget it

His page is very interesting and talks about other shows he is involved with, including more treaure hunting shows. If you have seen any I would love to hear your opinion.

HGTV made a seasonal contest out of the 127 Corridor sale. (675 miles of thrifting.)

TLC channel had plans for a show entitled Auctioneer$ but from what I can see it was cancelled after only one episode aired.

However Discovery Channel is airing a similar show titled Auction Kings.

A new show I hope to see this week is called Hollywood Treasures on the SyFy channel.
(Also airing on USA network.)
It caught my eye because one episode features Dawn Wells, MaryAnn from Gilligan’s Island.

I have heard rumors that American Pickers producers are working on a show called
American Treasures. They also produce A Dog’s Life.

Someone else wants to do a show called  American Treasure Hunt,
about things sold off from abandoned or unpaid storage units.
Spike tv will air a new show this month called Auction Hunters  also about things found in storage units. They claim that “every day in America there are over 10,000 storage units auctioned off.”

What shows did I leave off this list?
 Which were your favorites?
What was your favorite find or best Flip (trash turned to cash)?

If asked, would you host or be on a thrifty or treasure hunting show?

Many apologies for not mentioning the grandfather of antiques shows
Antiques Roadshow with U.S., Canadian and U.K. versions.

To make this a true thrifting post, I will add that my tv on which I watch these shows cost me $3.  However many of the shows are also available to watch online.

  25. I love shows that show what things are worth….hoping I’ll have one of them someday and get rich! LOL Yea,right! 🙂
I always loved MaryAnn on Gilligans Island….so much better than Ginger! 🙂
We have so many orchards etc around us that’s it’s not even funny…I feel blessed. I think there’s 5 within about 10 miles of me. (so blessed!) We’ve done fall festivals, corn festivals, festival of the horse, apple festivals etc etc etc. This year was even better, the World Equestrian Games was pretty much in my back yard! Actually one of the events was on a farm right on my road…THAT was cool! I guess I am blessed!~
Hope you have a great day my friend!

  30. I appreciate answering people`s questions about the show. I know a great deal about the characters as well as the real life of the stars.
