Hey Everybody- It’s THRIFTY THURSDAY at Bloggeritaville!
Linda from A La Carte and Junkin’ Finds Friday suggested we do a post about our best find or junkin’ adventure of 2010.
I have been giving this a lot of thought.
While money was tight this year, as most years, and transportation was more of a hassle this year, with expensive vehicle repairs and a dishonest mechanic involved to complicate things,
I changed my junking habits.
I hit community and village wide sales where I parked and walked more, rationalizing that I was getting exercise. Also, the money in my pocket was all I could spend.
I could not take advantage of Freecycle as often since I was never sure of having transportation to retrieve an item. Showing up when you say you will is a HUGE part of the Freecycle commitment.
I discovered the attraction and perhaps addiction of CraigsList.
Again, being able to show up and pick up and physically move items is a big part of the deal,
but I have actually found CraigsList listers to be more flexible than Freecyclers.
Before we go further, I want to also thank Debbie of Debbiedoos.
Through her I have found so many of you like-minded thrifters and junkers.
And a new place (for me) that I am meeting people, finding blogs and learning great (junky?) antiquey (important) educational knowledge is the Ning network I Antique Online.
Do you know about Ning networks? I am still learning although I have joined several, beginning with Martha Stewart’s Dreamers Into Doers and recently Willowing Art & Inspiration.
I highly recommend both.
But we were discussing the BEST OF thrifting for 2010.
I will show you the best “thrifted” surprises I brought home this year.
They are far from junk or even junque. They were preloved.
I will have to amend or continue this post during the week.
Family duty calls.
A Stroll Through Life usually has a Tabletop Tuesday link but this week it is ANYTHING Goes. So lets link up and share some end of the year love.
If you were more ambitious and commited than I and actually followed through on completing some projects this past year, please link up to an end of year party over at Savvy Southern Style. Kim invites you to show your best Boring To Better project.
So much for my good intentions to get more blogging done this week.
But I will be back soon.
Check out my (no, not my) motivational video here.
