The Best Is Yet to Come

I had to take these shots on the run, so I apologize for the focus.
If you squint it may help.

We had a few super nice days here and I have been spending as much time as possible outside.

changing colors

Our colors may not be as dramatic as some areas, but can you see the reds beginning to deepen?

I showed you a few of the larger items I brought home from the charity sales, my dollar deals.

Another thing I successfully captured were household items.  Having a  number of animals is good reason to pick up other people’s discarded towels. Have you priced new towels?  The least expensive I can find at the thrift stores are over a dollar each.  For half that I got some that are better than any I have ever owned.

I am not ashamed to ask if I can get a quantity discount.
Another thing many people will not buy preowned is socks.
Not a problem for me!  I found these, never worn, still packaged

Country Roads, Australia brand

and 4 other pair for a dollar (total).   Wash them and they are good as new if not new.
I will be wearing them out garage saling or in the fields and barn.  Made me happy.

After having worn scrubs for work many years I can not help but be attracted to them at sales.
If nothing else I love the fabrics used for them.

variety of colors and styles

Those that do not fit me or friends I can sell on CraigsList or through the bulletin board at local hospitals and care facilities.
Another type of shirt I could not pass up – it cost me a quarter at half price time.

shooting shirt

It is heavy duck cotton with leather accents. This photo does not do the colors justice. It is beautiful and perhaps never worn.
I am not into hunting but have been known to do some target shooting.
This will probably be something I try to resell.

Of course at these super low prices I had to pick up a few children’s things to resell. As long as I remember where I pack them away for a few months.

Ill be taking better photos before listing

I still have not shown you the items I am excited about finding.
Please come back to see them.  Some vintage, some crafty, and the best… well, you’ll have to come back.

What are the things you are most grateful for this week?
Write a post about your top three and link up to TFI Friday, a new blog hop.
Let’s all show some bloggy love.

  1. You find the best things! you have rummage sales already? the only things I have seen advertised lately is the odd moving sale, which is when I have been out (rare) and no time to stop, phishh! I bet you could dress up that shooting shirt a bit too, maybe an applique or sparkles? fabric paint? deal on towels! & I look for old blankets too, you can always cut up the big ones to fit more animals. I don’t have the brain power to try & resell… I gather up & donate to thrift shops, LOL!

    • Between all the church and charity sales I think more than half the town’s population (and many of us county folk) were out browsing. Parking spaces were at a premium. Letting me know that for village wide sales I’ll have to be out before dawn.

  2. It looks like you had a very sucessful trip indeed!!
I love a good “garage sale / yard sale”- Canadian terms for junking or boot sale

  3. I was stunnied years ago when my church informed me that they only collect new clothes for the needy. People waste too much.

  4. One of the few things I allow myself to buy, at thrift and yard sales, are towels and linen.

You’re going to have to build another barn, soon, for storage. You heard it here, first. but don’t shoot the messenger!

I didn’t know there was a special shirt to wear for shooting. I learned something new!!!
When both daughters are home, we have 5 dogs here, so I totally know what you mean about towels!

  10. I know what you mean with the scrubs! They have quality fabric used on them, and they are quite comfy too! If only I can find a size that fits me. The scrubs I usually find are over sized and very unflattering.
Good for you! These are great finds!

  11. Great finds! I always look at towels when I am out thrifting! You are right, they are so expensive to buy. I have found a few. I also look for all household linens. And finding new socks, awesome. You hit some great thrifty finds this week! thank you for joining TTF! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!
