A Tuesday Treasure

A blessing in my life right now are mother cats who are willing to care for kittens they did not give birth to. What makes it remarkable is that the birth mothers were not injured or worse. They did the birth process and cleaned up the kittens and then just walked away. There was no further interest, no remorse, no antagonism, just lack of any further interest.

Tell Us Something Good

  1. Thank you so much for linking in to Tuesday Treasures. What you say is so true – thank goodness for adoptive mothers. What I find really amazing is when this crosses species. Like a dog who raised orphaned tiger cubs for Melbourne zoo.

  2. How special , the kittens are adorable . There was a deer that did that very thing last year , gave birth and just walked away but our neighbor nursed it back to health and eventually it was taken to a wildlife park .Nature can be strange at times .

  4. Kia Ora, Thanks so much for your tip for de-smelling old books, much appreciated. The book is in the freezer as I type! The kittens are absolutely adorable, I’d love to do a cross-species adoption!

  9. Awww. How sweet. Well, the part about the other cat taking care of the kittens. I wonder what would make a momma cat walk away from her babies like that?

    Thanks for linking up today!

  10. I love that even in the animal world there are others who are willing to step in and help keep newborns alive. I’m sorry the mother walked away. I guess it happens occasionally. It looks like the foster mom cat is doing a fantastic job!

Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier and leaving a comment. I hope you have a great week!

  12. Hi there, had to pop in here to reply to your comment on my Tuesday Treasure. Since I don’t drink wine much I find it fun to be a tea connoisseur. I get to have a tea pot collection, a tea cup collection and a tea collection. I have the four cats and they pretty much take up all the best spots in the house and on the bed. I thought it was only food that brought them close together. Seems sun in winter does the same 🙂
